The first time Kevin spotted a house being built near his home he was nine years old. But in an instant, he knew construction was his path. In high school, he helped his father build the family’s new home, and later attended BCIT’s Building Technologies Program. Finally, he opened his own custom home building company. In 2006, Kevin identified a growing niche market for townhomes designed to replicate the single-family experience, built his first townhouse community, and hasn’t looked back since! He’s a self-confessed sports addict, both playing and watching, and is often found shooting hoops with his two sons.
Seeta infuses the team with her marketing savvy and enthusiasm for interior design and real estate. Always on the quest for the newest, super cool finishing’s and innovative storage solutions, Seeta showcases them in each community’s display homes. When she’s not creating beautiful homes, she loves to cheer on her two pre-teenage sons on the basketball court or planning the next family vacation!
Chief Financial Officer
After 22 years, Kelly’s enthusiasm for corporate accounting has never waivered. She loves the challenge of taking the many diverse, multi-layered decisions and considerations that keep the company profitable and fitting all the pieces together like an elaborate puzzle. She travels abroad at least twice every year, where she loves to spend time on the beach and year-round she enjoys keeping active by practicing yoga.
Marketing Project Manager
A graduate from the Beedie School of Business, Ryan is passionate for all aspects of Project Management and Marketing. From market analysis and cost projections to researching buyer demographics, he crunches the numbers so the Essence team can stay on track, on time, and on budget — every time. When he’s not pumping the iron at the gym, you’ll find him reading business books or planning his next trip abroad.
Construction Project Manager
Shawn’s been part of the Essence team for over a decade and knows the ins and outs of every job… because he’s done them all. Now, Shawn spends his days strategizing, keeping a close watch on quality control, and ensuring communication lines are always open between everyone involved — apprentices to trades to senior management. Somehow, he also makes time to study building technology at BCIT and is excited by the possibilities these new construction methods bring. If you’re looking for Shawn outside work hours, check out the local dog park where he’s likely walking with Cookie, his loveable Doberman.
From foundations to finishing, roofers to landscapers, when the team needs to know about pricing materials or rates for sub-trades, Pierce is the guy. His keen eye for organization keeps everyone’s schedule on track and in balance from conception to handing over the keys. His greatest reward is seeing bare land transformed into homes where real people live real lives. Pierce has earned his diploma in Architectural and Building Technology at BCIT. To satisfy his other love, Pierce spends many evenings on his piano or strumming some chords on his guitar.
Jesse always loved to envision the project, from looking at barren landscaping to the finished building. Being able to shape a piece of land into a future home is what made being a Site Supervisor a natural fit. From start to finish, from looking at a set of plans to handing over the keys of a finished home, Jesse is onsite solving problems and making sure day-to-day operations run smoothly. Then perhaps a little golf or hockey to unwind and stay fit.
Finishing details are what get Kal excited! Once the drywall’s on, he’s there to make sure products like tiles, lighting, flooring — in short, everything that make a new home look great — are installed to the very highest standards of excellence. For Kal, being an integral part of the Essence team is one of the best parts of the job. After work he enjoys playing sports or just hanging out with his son and daughter.
Sunny began his career with Essence over seven years ago, working his way up from laborer to site supervisor. Today, his responsibilities include coordinating schedules for the dozens of tradespeople who are often onsite at the same time as well as keeping up to date on new materials, technology, and building regulations. The many long hours are all worth it though when he sees a customer’s eyes light up when the get the keys to their new home. He’s an outdoor sports fanatic, loves hiking, and is his family’s reigning Barbeque King.
Since starting with Essence in 2017, Brodie has become a familiar face in the permits departments of both Surrey and Langley City Halls. He negotiates rezoning when needed, oversees land assembly for future communities, and is the primary liaison between all stakeholders of a project. Brodie has earned his diploma in Architectural and Building Technology at BCIT, and is currently studying Urban Land Economics at UBC. In his spare time, he’s an avid golfer in summer, skier in winter, and four-season open house junkie.
After receiving his BBA from Kwantlen University, Simran found his niche at Essence. As the company’s ‘numbers man,’ he oversees the complex processes that ensure a project is financially viable and continually looks for new ways to streamline the flow of budgets, payables and receivable, and all things accounting oriented. He’s also produced a promotional video for the Burn Bog Society to help school-aged kids learn more about this precious resource.
Home Owner Care Team
When a new homeowner steps through their front door for the first time, they can be sure Joe’s been there ahead making sure every detail is perfect. It’s a challenge that’s never the same twice, and that’s just how Joe likes things. Joe loves playing hockey with his son and can’t wait for his daughter to be born so he can hold her in his arms.
Customer Service Supervisor
Sunny is the go to person when customers have questions or concerns about their new home. Always respectful to the fact that a home is the largest purchase most people make in their lives, his approachable nature and industry knowledge put homeowners at ease. Sunny does this by ensuring that no matter how small or big a problem is, it will be fixed to their complete satisfaction. He’s often seen kicking a soccer ball around the field with friends or exploring new destinations across Canada.
